Account Manager -- Houston, TX

Texas Monthly (and its associated publishing ventures) has an immediate opportunity for a senior sales professional to prospect, market, and sell advertising as well as function as a liaison in key Houston nonprofit relationships. Minimum of five years sales or development experience is required, preferably with media knowledge. The ideal individual will be able to network and secure long-term partnerships, including advertising sales to clients based in the Houston area and brand advancement through nonprofit and key organization relationships. Skills/Abilities: Must have strong persuasive communication skills and be able to develop and deliver sales presentations and negotiate contracts based on the needs of the client. Must have proven track record of excellence in sales or development and very strong organizational and time-management skills. Must be self-motivated and be able to exercise independent judgment and solve problems. Additional skills required include strategizing, marketing, networking, and researching. Participation in events in the community requires some night and weekend work as well as some travel. This position may be full- or part-time depending on the selected candidate. Administrative Assistant - Austin, TX

Texas Monthly has an immediate opening for an administrative assistant. The successful candidate will be the receptionist and initial representative of the company for callers and visitors. Some of the job duties include: welcoming guests and staff, performing various administrative projects, updating staff lists, producing the company's staff newsletter, and assisting with general office-related tasks. The applicant must possess exceptional organization and communication skills, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure. This position is a service-oriented job; the successful candidate must be willing to take ownership of his/her role in happily facilitating all aspects of the company's work flow as it pertains to supporting staffers in general office tasks, requests, and needs. As a member of the General Administration department, this staff member should welcome the opportunity to keep the office and its staff running smoothly and take pride in his/her ability to do so with grace, humor, and ingenuity. Digital Marketing Manager -- Austin, TX

Texas Monthly is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager to lead sales and promotional efforts across multiple platforms within its digital portfolio. This position will: develop and execute custom digital revenue-generating programs that leverage editorial, brand, and external vendor capabilities; support ongoing digital sales initiatives; attend and present on client calls; create and implement compelling integrated ideas; streamline internal processes; write RFPs, presentations/proposals, and post-campaign reports that meet client objectives; maintain digital sales materials and online media kit; oversee creation and execution of digital promotional campaigns to support marketing initiatives; monitor industry standards and competitive sites to ensure that digital assets remain competitive. Applicant must be creative, resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, well-versed in mobile/app and social platforms, and have a comfortable knowledge of online marketing trends, digital creative development processes, and implementation of digital channels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory. Two to three years of digital marketing experience and sales planning/support required. Experience with events a plus. Some overnight travel and evening and weekend program management required. Internships are available each semester (fall, spring, and summer). All internships are unpaid and available only to undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited academic program at the time of the internship. Internship applications will only be considered if you are seeking an internship for credit or if you receive approval via a signed “Educational Endorsement” form from your university. For students at the University of Texas, only internships for credit will be considered. All internships include a 20% job shadowing experience.
